This evening instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to work with a computer system. This course focuses on the key aspects of a computer system and the features of various Windows operating systems. In addition, this course offers the students the skills/knowledge to work with Microsoft Word 2016 and Microsoft® Excel 2016 . The most current version of Microsoft Office will be used.

Description
This course explains course introduces you to the fundamentals of computing, explains the components of a computer, explores the operating system basics, and helps the student to understand the working of a computer, mouse, and keyboard. Also, we provide the students with the skill to perform file and folder operations using the Windows operating system installed on their computers.
This Microsoft Word component explains the key features of Microsoft Word. It explains how to create a document, edit and format a document, insert images and tables in a document. This module also explains how to prepare a document for printing. It covers setting up page orientation, page breaks, page numbering, and adjusting margins. Document navigation will also be included to improve time management.
This Excel component explains the key features of Excel 2010. It explains how to create a new workbook, open an existing workbook. How to add edit data to it columns. This module also explains to to navigate a workbook/worksheet as well as simple formatting techniques.
Note, all modules in the courseware provided are not covered in this course.
Prerequisites
Before attending this course, students must have:
- Basic reading and comprehension skills at the level required to read a local newspaper.
- Access to a computer at home, school, or work environment.
Target audience
Persons requiring basic computer keyboard skills, knowledge to start and shutdown computers correctly, start and exit applications, switch between multiple running applications, basic Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel skills.
